The Short, Sweet and Spoiler-Free Blurb:

The world outside is dark and filled with dangerous chemicals. Left behind in a sanctuary that has already been disturbed once, the remaining kids try to rebuild the community they lost. But when the issues are life and death, love and hate, who can you really trust?

Why I’m waiting:

I thought it was amazing how well Emmy Laybourne was able to add laugh-out-loud funny moments to the first book in this series (Monument 14) even though the world is like ending in a fiery, terrifying death. The characters had rich personalities (which I’m sure comes from Emmy’s talent as an actress).  I must know what happens next to these kids!!

The Short, Sweet and Spoiler-Free Blurb:

Moving to a new high school sucks. Especially a rich-kid private school. With uniforms. But nothing is worse than finding out the first girl you meet is dead. And a klepto. Clash meets sass in this uproarious modern-day retelling of Baroness Orczy’s The Scarlet Pimpernel.

Why I’m waiting:

I loved Aprilynne Pike’s Wings series so I was jazzed that she is writing a new book that is a retelling of the Scarlet Pimpernel no less!! I love re-tellings and this will give me an excuse to finally go read The Scarlet Pimpernel (and maybe even watch the classic movie, too:) )  Bonus – it’s not a series. I love series, but I also love not having to remember a bunch of characters and story lines ofr a year until the next book comes out. I’m not a fan of this cover.  It looks nice I guess, but I don’t think it really tells me what the story is about.

Waiting on Wednesday: Dark Triumph by Robin LaFevers

“Waiting On” Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating.

Dark Triumph is about Sybella who lives in a convent of assassin nuns that serve Death in 15th century Brittany.  I loved the blend of historical fiction and high-fantasy in the first book of this series, Grave Mercy.  Unlike a lot of sequels, this story follows a different character than the first book did.  This time we get to learn about Sybella and her fate in the awesome world and mythology that Robin LaFevers created. I can’t wait for more assassin nuns!

Release Date: April 2, 2013

Series: His Fair Assassin #2

Waiting on Wednesday: Timeless by Michelle Madow

“Waiting On” Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating.

The idea of reincarnation and a tragic love story repeating itself was so much fun to read about in the first book, Remembrance.  I can’t wait to see where Lizzie and Drew end up!

Waiting on Wednesday: Scarlet by Marissa Meyer

“Waiting On” Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating.

Cinder, the first book in this series, was an AWESOME sci-fi/post-apocalyptic re-telling of Cinderella and I can’t wait for more! Scarlet is set in the same world, but re-tells Red Riding Hood this time.  Sci-fi, fairy tales and re-tellings are my top favorite genres.  Marissa gets bonus points for blending all three together so well.  And the cover is so pretty!  What else is there to say!? It can’t get here fast enough.
