I love trying to predict what is going to happen in a book.  I thought it would be fun to have some of my blogger friends write down their theories for any book – from the realistic to the crazy – and see if they’re right when it comes out!

Blogger Q & A

What is your favorite song?
I’ve always loved “Walking on Sunshine” by Katrina and the Waves, but since my recent Josh Groban Obsession (if you don’t know he is, LOOK HIM UP NOW), so I TOTALLY love “To Where You Are” by him! I also really like One Direction and David Archuleta and lots of musical soundtracks!

I love David Archuleta and soundtracks and Josh Groban!  You have excellent taste in music :)
So, tell us something unique about your blog.
I take all the book photos that I have used for my blog button (which I’m totally re-doing, lol) and and other post pretties like Book Hauls and Blogoversarys and stuff. I’m not a techi I pretty much take a photo and then edit it. Yay for Photobucket!

Your new button came out great!  I think it’s more important to be an artist than a techi, right? :)

Where is the farthest place you ever traveled? What did you do there?
Ummm…not very far. Lol. The farthest east I’ve been is Colorado visiting family. Farthest North is Seattle, Washington with my dad (we went to a seminar and totally had fun in Downtown. Just me and my dad. It was a pretty sweet date. ) Going South would be Arizona….Yeah. Totally hot I know. And then farthest to the West would be the Ocean! I totally have a big list of dream vacations since I’ve never been super far from home!

I’d say that visiting Colorado from California is far. :)

What is your favorite all-time book?
To me, this is like the biggest no-brainer. Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien. First time I ever read it was when I was 10 (but only really because my dad said that if I read it I could go see one of the Harry Potter movies in theater). That was pretty much it. My dad’s LOTR love passed down to me and I’m forever hooked. Besides have you seen the Extended Movie Editions? No other movie on earth can compare!

I can’t believe you read LOTR at age 10!  I couldn’t understand it at all until I was like 18. :)  The extended editions are indeed the bomb.

Thank you so much for stopping by Inky!

Series Theories: Scarlet by Marissa Meyer

Series Theories: Scarlet by Marissa Meyer

I love trying to predict what is going to happen in a book.  I thought it would be fun to have some of my blogger friends write down their theories for any book – from the realistic to the crazy – and see if they’re right when it comes out!

So, I have another great edition of Series Theories for you today. I’m so excited to have the lovely Gabi from Mato’s Blog!  She’s picked Scarlet by Marissa Meyer.

**If you haven’t read Cinder, don’t read my theories about Scarlet. There are spoilers! You’ve been warned!**

I loved, loved, loved Marissa Meyer’s debut novel Cinder when I read it earlier this year. But we’ve got to wait until 2013 to read the next book, Scarlet, so in the meantime I’d like to present you with my thoughts on what’s going to happen . . .

  • Kai is going to put two and two together and realize that Cinder is Princess Selene. And then we will have the most amazing oh shiitake mushroom moment when he realizes how close he had been to finding her – and now she’s gone. But he still thinks she might have used the Lunar magic-sciencey-thing on him, and she did lie about being cyborg, so I don’t expect any happy relationship resolutions yet.
  • Scarlet is a retelling of Little Red Riding Hood, and I’m guessing Cinder and Scarlet are going to become friends. I’m looking forward to watching Cinder make buddies – she was so flustered around Kai, and she doesn’t have much practice making friends.
  • Scarlet is going to have some sort of skill that will help Cinder overthrow Queen Levana. Or maybe this mysterious Wolf character might? Either way, I think Cinder’s going to begin building a fairy tale army.
  • Cinder is going to find a new body for Iko. Iko was one of my favorite characters in the first book, and I was more distraught when she “died” then when Peony did. So I’m really hoping Iko is in Scarlet. Besides, can’t you just imagine how sweet Cinder and Iko’s reunion would be? Aw. I have warm fuzzy feelings just thinking about it.

Oh my heck, I loved Iko too!  I can’t wait to see Kai kick himself when he realizes who Cinder was :)  Awesome theories!

I asked Gabi to answer a few questions about herself and her blog

Blogger Q & A

What is your favorite book?

There is no way I can name just one book, because then my other favorites will feel jipped. So I’ll give you a few: Walk Two Moons by Sharon Creech, The Goose Girl by Shannon Hale, A Ring of Endless Light by Madeleine L’Engle, and Cinder by Marissa Meyer.

What is your favorite song?

This is even more difficult than the book question. If I had to pick a favorite song I’d go with The Voice, as sung by Lisa Kelly of Celtic Woman. I saw their concert A New Journey on a PBS special one night, and I’ve loved them ever since.

Where are you from and what do you love about living there?

I’ve lived in Idaho my entire life. I think it’s pretty great, but I’m probably a little bit biased. One of our favorite things to do in the summer is drive the riding lawn mower around the yard singing country songs at the top of our lungs – like “She thinks my tractor’s sexy!” or “I’m an international harvester!”

Tell us what makes your blog unique.

My bio section has a picture of my cat, Cali. How many other blogs can say they have a picture of a beautiful calico cat? I’d say that makes mine pretty darn unique.

Thanks so much Gabi for stopping by! As a Utahn and an almost next door neighbor, I agree that Idaho is pretty awesome *high fives.*  And that song is gorgeous!

Series Theories: Reached by Ally Condie

Series Theories: Reached by Ally Condie

Today I have my first guest blogger for Series Theories! I’m so excited to have the lovely Kathryn from Clean Teen Fiction!

I love trying to predict what is going to happen in a book.  I thought it would be fun to have some of my blogger friends write down their theories for any book – from the realistic to the crazy – and see if they’re right when it comes out!

Kathryn’s Series Theories for Reached by Ally Condie

The book I picked is Reached by Ally Condie. (Matched #3) *Spoilers ahead for the first two books in this series :)*

Book Cover of Reached by Ally Condie

Since this is the last book of the series I predict that we’ll get a lot of answers.

  • According to the beautiful covers, Cassia will finally break free from restraints and be able to “reach” her destiny by her own choices.
  • Will Cassia and Ky be together or torn apart? I think the ending will be happy with the two together. I wish Xander could find someone, but I’m afraid he’ll still be in love with Cassia.
  • We’ll get more of Xander’s background story since some of the chapters will be his POV. He’s been hiding a lot from Cassia. We’ll get a chance to see how smart and cunning he can be.
  • With Xander and Cassia and others in the Rising on the inside, we’ll learn more about the Society. Who is really making all the decisions, and what are their weaknesses?
  • The society will be taken down or at least majorly changed. People will be given choices again.
  • For something heart wrenching, I’m afraid Indie might be killed doing something heroic or maybe Cassia’s dad. I hope not though. I especially hope Bram is safe at the end.

Great theories, Kathryn! I’m really excited to read from Xander’s view, too.  And I totally think that Ky and Cassia will end up together. :)

I asked Kathryn @ Clean Teen Fiction a few questions about herself and her blog.  It’s one of my favorite blogs and I read it every day.   Be sure to check it out!

Blogger Q & A

Hi Kathryn! What is your favorite book?

There are so many books I love! Waterfall by Lisa T. Bergren is my favorite, the whole series actually.

What is your favorite song?

My favorite song changes pretty often with whatever is current on the radio. Right now What Makes You Beautiful by One Direction is my favorite pop song and A Woman Like You by Lee Brice is my favorite country song.

Where are you from, and what do you love about living there?

I’m from the Dallas/ Fort Worth Area in the great state of Texas! I live in a small town outside of the metro. I love that I get to drive by a field of sheep every day taking my son to school.

Tell us what makes your blog unique.

I feature “clean” teen fiction, books without sex or excessive language. Since there are a lot of definitions out there on what’s a clean book I have content ratings at the end of my reviews to let everyone make their own decisions.

Thank you so much for stopping by! If you want to do a guest post for this feature, just email me at booksatruestory@gmail.com

New Feature: Series Theories

New Feature: Series Theories

I want to start a new guest post feature and I’m calling it Series Theories.  I thought it would be a fun way to talk about books and get to know some of the great bloggers out there.

If you want to sign up to write a guest post for the Series Theories feature email me at booksatruestory@gmail.com

Here’s how it works:

For your guest post, you’ll pick a book that hasn’t been released yet and write what you think will happen in that book OR you can pick a book you’ve already read and talk about how it was different from your expectations.  You could pick Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins and tell us how it was different from what you thought would really happen.  You could pick Insurgent by Veronica Roth and tell us what your inner fangirl wants to happen.  You could pick Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer and tell us what you think would never happen in a million years (like Bella gets pregnant and has a baby and Jacob finally finds true love – Seriously, I wrote that as a crazy theory before it came out.)  It can be anything!  I think it’s going to be a lot of fun and I can’t wait to see what you guys think.

At the end of the post you can also tell us about yourself and your blog.  It can be what books you like to read, what features you do, your favorite hobbies, your pet peeves etc.

So email me and sign up!

Here’s a Series Theories post I wrote in case you’re wondering what it will look like.

My Series Theories for Destined by Aprilynne Pike

I love trying to predict what is going to happen in a book.  I thought it would be fun to write down my theories – from the realistic to the crazy – and see if I’m right when I read the book.

The book I picked is:

Destined by Aprilynne Pike (Wings #4)

Book Cover of Destined by Aprilynne Pike

*Spoilers for the first three books in the series*

This book just came out yesterday.  I loved the first three books in this series and I’m really excited to read the last one!  Here’s what I think will happen:

  • Tamani and Laurel will finally get together.  I mean, they better. Her human boyfriend, whatever his name was, needs to find someone else.  Don’t get me wrong – he’s cute and an awesome friend, but he’s not Tamani.
  • Klea is bad. I know it.  She’s been ambiguous through the whole series, but I’ve always thought she was on the dark side.
  • Yuki is playing the misguided teenager, but I don’t trust her…
  • Epic battles in Avalon.  Puny humans may die.
  • I hope we find out more about turning fairies into potions. I think this will turn out to be big.
  • My crazy theory – Avalon is destroyed and Laurel teaches all the fairies how to live like humans.  All the vegetarian fairies create a second hippie movement world wide.

*End spoilers*

If you haven’t read Destined yet, I want to hear your theories! The crazy ones, the fangirl’s dream come true or your prophecies of what you think will really happen. (Use your inner eye…..).  Or if you have read it – Team Tamani or Team David? No spoilers for Destined :)

Series Theories: The Death Cure

Series Theories: The Death Cure

In celebration of The Death Cure coming out next week, I thought I’d start a new meme in honor of it.  I’m calling it Series Theories because I want you to guess what’s going to happen in the last book of a given series.   FYI, this will have spoilers of the first two books.  Here’s what I think will happen in The Death Cure  (Book #3 of the Maze Runner Trilogy):

  • They will all get their memories back.
  • James Dashner will add a twist that I didn’t see coming (like he always does:)
  • I think their last trial will be to come out with a drug of some sort to cure the human race of the Flare.
  • I think the drug will fail and they will realize that it’s a genetic immunity.
  • EVERYONE DIES – except Thomas and Teresa.
  • Thomas and Teresa will have to single handedly repopulate the earth.  They are only slightly upset about this.
I’m dying to know, what are your theories? (If you’ve read an advanced copy, don’t spoil the fun!)
