My Bookish Holiday Wish List

December 6, 2012 By Jessica Filed Under: Events 5 Comments

I like books. I like stuff that was inspired by books even more.  Especially when they are shiny.

So here’s my list of stuff that I want for Christmas other than books (but are bookish, of course. It’s me.)

I thought you could use this as a holiday guide to shop for your friends and family.  Plus it could be a subtle hint for my husband of what to get me this year.

So, first on the list – Anything from the Harry Potter Shop.  Really you can’t go wrong. (Well, except for the movies. If you are buying for a Harry Potter fan you know, THEY OWN ALL THE MOVIES. It’s a given.  Books too.)

Don’t get me wrong, I love these collectible wands. But….I’m practical. What would I do with it?

Hermione Wand Harry Potter

Hermione’s Wand from the Harry Potter Shop $39.95

Problem solved. It’s a pen. It’s completely justified now. And it’s $30 cheaper.

Hermione Pen Bookmark Gift Set

Hermione Wand Pen and Bookmark Gift Set $11.95

And I could use my awesome pen to write in these awesome journals.

The Hobbit Journal $14.95

There and Back Again: An Adventure Journal (Lord of the Rings) $45

(This is actually out of stock and was sold for LOTR.

You would get major bonus points for giving one of these.)

I am a grown woman. I do not need a Millenium Falcon made of Legos.

LEGO Star Wars Millennium Falcon $114

So I’ll consider it an investment for my kids to use when they grow up and are like 20 years old.

But grown women can wear cute, handcrafted necklaces from Etsy, right?

 For Hunger Games Fans

Hunger Games Necklace

Hunger Games Necklace – Katniss’ Handcuff Key and Peetas Pearl $21

Hunger Games Necklace

Hunger Games Inspired Hand Stamped Necklace Real with Pearl and Mockingjay $20.50

Mockingjay Hunger Games Locket

Hunger Games Mockingjay Golden Dial Pocket watch Locket Necklace $5.99

Jewelry for Harry Potter Fans

Xenophilius Lovegood’s Necklace – Harry Potter Deathly Hallows $49

Deathly Hallows Necklace

Deathly hallows necklace symbol $23.99

Harry Potter Golden Snitch Necklace

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Golden Snitch Necklace $17

Clothes from Harry Potter

I’m thinking I should really just break down and make a wish list on the cool Harry Potter Wish List website since 90% of the stuff on this list has to do with Harry Potter.

Hogwarts Alumni

Hogwarts Alumni Women T-Shirt Color Sport Grey GILDAN $15.52

AHH! I would wear that shirt every day.

Gryffindor House Beanie $18.99

This beanie is definitely a need. Baby, it’s cold outside.

And while we’re at it, the shirt is a need, too. I spend all my money on books and I don’t have enough clothes to wear.

See? Practical.

And while we’re talking about Harry Potter, I totally want this Wizard Chess set even though I don’t play chess.

Harry Potter Wizard Chess Set $43.99

I could learn!

For the Procrastinating Gifter

Masterpiece Classic: Downton Abbey Season 3 [Blu-ray] (Original U.K. Version) $37.99

The only good thing about the fact that we in the US have to wait for Downton Abbey is that they often release the whole season on DVD/Blu-ray before it completely airs.  The reason I listed this as a good gift for procrastinators is because this doesn’t come out until January.  You could buy this on Christmas Eve and print out a card saying they will get to watch it on DVD before anyone else! (This technique could be applied to any gift that hasn’t been release yet, really.)

I may or may not have posted this section just for my husband who never, EVER procrastinates buying gifts.

And finally, the thing on my wishlist that I know I won’t get.

Kindle Paperwhite, 6″ High Resolution Display with Built-in Light, Wi-Fi $139

It’s nice to dream though, isn’t it?  But my kindle keyboard still works (even though that stupid lighted cover completely broke after only a year) and I don’t need a new kindle yet. Sigh. Maybe next year.

Oh! I can’t forget about the cute covers that automatically wake it!

Amazon Kindle Paperwhite Leather Cover, Honey $39.99

So what things are on your holiday wish list? Did you find anything you want from mine?

Believe it or not, I have TWO Lego Millenium Falcons gathering dust in my bedroom closet. The hubs bought them as investments and I heard they’re going for quite a bit of moola on eBay. I made fun of him for buying such expensive “investments,” but I guess he knew what he was doing!

LOL That’s too funny. I’ll tell my hubby that it’ll be worth a lot of money someday :)

I need to make a wishlist on my blog! I love all the Hunger Games and Harry Potter jewelry and things. Awesome! I’ve never read The Hobbit, but I really should. Should I watch the movie first? Hmmm maybe that’s cheating. lol

If it was Lord of the Rings, I’d say watch the movie first. I had the hardest time keeping characters straight before I watched the movie. But the Hobbit is not as dense as LOTR. The Hobbit is actually a pretty fast read. If you have time and like reading the book first, I’d say go for it. The Hobbit is so fun, cute and adventurous. I loved it :)
