The Short, Sweet, and Spoiler-Free Blurb:

Isabella Swan’s move to Forks, a small, perpetually rainy town in Washington, could have been the most boring move she ever made. But once she meets the mysterious and alluring Edward Cullen, Isabella’s life takes a thrilling and terrifying turn. Deeply romantic and extraordinarily suspenseful, Twilight captures the struggle between defying our instincts and satisfying our desires. This is a love story with bite.

5 Stars

My sister was reading this book in high school and when she told me it was about vampires, I was seriously concerned that she had gone all goth on me. To make sure she wasn’t reading weird stuff, I decided to read it and to my surprise, I loved it. The part that I loved the most about this book is how Stephenie captures the feeling of what it’s like to fall in love for the first time. I didn’t fall in love with a vampire, but my first love felt exactly the same way it did for Bella. Bella is so relatable that it comes to the point where you fell like you ARE her and you are living this intensely romantic love story. And Bella is sarcastic.  The movies bring out the drama a lot, but the books are actually funny, sarcastic and sweet (okay, and a little bit cheesy:) The characters, especially Edward, are unpredictable like real people would be.  Stephenie’s blend of the every day and the supernatural is fascinating.  My favorite thing about fantasy is that it asks questions we never thought to ask.  To me Twilight asks the question, “What if you fell in love with someone you wanted to kill?”  The ending was completely surprising to me and not at all what I was expecting. I was completely floored.  The best stories always surprise me. The rest of the series is good, but Twilight will always be my favorite.

Content Rating: Medium, some violence and some kissing.

About Stephenie Meyer

Stephenie Meyer

Stephenie Meyer’s life changed dramatically on June 2, 2003. The stay-at-home mother of three young sons woke-up from a dream featuring seemingly real characters that she could not get out of her head. “Though I had a million things to do (i.e. making breakfast for hungry children, dressing and changing the diapers of said children, finding the swimsuits that no one ever puts away in the right place), I stayed in bed, thinking about the dream. Unwillingly, I eventually got up and did the immediate necessities, and then put everything that I possibly could on the back burner and sat down at the computer to write–something I hadn’t done in so long that I wondered why I was bothering.” Meyer invented the plot during the day through swim lessons and potty training, then writing it out late at night when the house was quiet. Three months later she finished her first novel, Twilight. Stephenie Meyer graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in English Literature. She lives in Arizona with her husband and sons.
