Remembrance

by Michelle Madow
Series: Transcend Time #1
Published: July 25, 2011
Genres: Fantasy, Romance, Young Adult
Format: eBook (314 pages)
Source: For Review

Lizzie Davenport has been reincarnated from Regency Era, England ... but she doesn't know it yet. Then Drew Carmichael transfers into Lizzie's high school at the beginning of the year, and she feels a connection to him, almost like she knows him. She can't stop thinking about him, but whenever she tries talking with him about the mysteries behind her feelings, he makes it clear that he wants nothing to do with her. Reaching him is even more difficult because she has a boyfriend, Jeremy, who has started to become full of himself after being elected co-captain of the varsity soccer team, and her flirtatious best friend Chelsea starts dating Drew soon after his arrival. So why can't she get him out of her mind?

Remembrance  is like Twilight meets reincarnation with a nice masked ball. I thought it would be historical fiction, but it wasn’t. It was more like a supernatural romance, kind-of. What I’m trying to say is that it was a unique fantasy romance. At the beginning, it reminded me a lot of Twilight and I thought with dread that we were going to venture into the “rip-off” zone.  Thankfully, it didn’t. The allusions to Twilight were fun to read and the story stayed refreshingly original.  Michelle’s writing is good and her foreshadowing was nice without it being predictable. Knowing that something else was probably going on gave the story a nice drive to it. The story felt finished, but I’m curious as to what’s going to happen in the next book. Okay, scratch that, I’m dying to know what happens next.  The romance was cute, the characters interesting. Most of all it was just plain fun and entertaining.

Content Rating: Mild, for some kissing but nothing very graphic.

I received this book for review from the author in exchange for a fair and honest review. I was not told what to say, I was not paid to write this review and the opinions expressed are my own.
